Abstract:
A process for the continuous production of polyurea grease is disclosed. The process involves: (1) reaction of a diisocyanate and an amine compound in at least one continuously stirred tank reactor; (2) milling of the reacted product; and (3) hot curing the milled product, thereby forming a polyurea grease product. An apparatus for the continuous production of polyurea grease is also disclosed. The apparatus includes involves: (1) at least one of a diisocyanate feed and an amine feed; (2) at least one continuously stirred tank reactor; (3) a milling device; and (3) a curing device.
Abstract:
A continuous process for preparing lithium complex greases improved by using a complexing agent of dimethyl glutarate, dimethyl adipate, glutaric acid, adipic acid, or mixtures thereof, and preferably also a specialized flash chamber to achieve a penetration split (60X-UW) of within -20 mm/10 to 10 mm/10, a roll stability (D1831) of 240°C. This process is using a flash chamber with a conical end and a stirrer.
Abstract:
A grease composition having low noise characteristics is prepared by shearing a mixture of a base oil and a thickener for a time sufficient to reduce substantially all of the thickener to particles below 500 microns in size; and then processing the sheared mixture to a grease.
Abstract:
Lubricating oils exhibiting anti rust properties are obtained by adding to the lubricating oil an acidic anti rust additive and an acid scavenger such as carbodiimide, in a specific sequence.
Abstract:
A lubricating oil formulation containing a major amount of a base oil of lubricating viscosity and a minor amount of additives comprising a combination of phenyl naphthyl amine, dimercaptothiadiazole or derivative thereof, and triazole or benzotriazole or derivative thereof, exhibiting enhanced resistance to oxidation.
Abstract:
Ester based industrial oils containing acid scavengers exhibit improved sludge performance when a minor amount of hydrocarbon oil is included in the formulation.
