Abstract: A comminution apparatus can include a wear component. The wear component can be coupled to a wear detector so that measurements of the liner can be taken to detect a current state of wear of the liner. The detection of the worn state may occur at discrete time intervals (e.g. every day, every 30 mins, etc.). In some embodiments, the wear detector can be configured so that it is powered wirelessly via a wireless transmission of an electromagnetic field or a magnetic field that is generated by a wireless power source mechanism positioned away from a crushing body for wireless transmission of power to the wear detector. The wear detector can also be configured to wireless communicate data relating to the wear measurements to at least one remote computer device via a wireless local area network connection or other type of wireless communication connection.

Abstract: A roller having a roller body, a shaft, and a bearing. The roller body is arranged for rotating about a roller axis and has a bore. The shaft is located in the bore together with the bearing. The bearing has an inner surface surrounding the shaft and an outer surface facing the roller body. The roller has a gap sensor device arranged in the shaft body for measuring in a radially outward direction from the shaft through a gap in the bearing onto the surface of the roller body.
