Abstract:
The present invention allows for a combination valve in a hydronic HVAC system that functions as an isolation valve; a check valve; and as a device for measuring fluid parameters, such as flow rate, pressure, and/or temperature, and also allows for the isolation valve to be configured in the field to be mounted either in a straight 180 or an angled 90 orientation, as well as at an intermediate angle. The new combination of isolation valve, check valve, with embedded sensors for flow rate, pressure, and/or temperature measurement provides a more compact product envelope that achieves space savings, e.g., by eliminating the need for separate components in an HVAC system, such as separate isolation valves, check valves, flow meters, pressure gages, and/or thermometers.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for a device or feature that incorporates a technique or means for flow measurement in a fluid flow system. By way of example, a contoured insert may be specifically calibrated to the pipe line size to ensure the desired accuracy of the flow measurement, irrespective of pipe length between the device and other fluid system components that would negatively influence other flow rate measurement devices. This in turn reduces the total number of components needed in a system.
Abstract:
A pumping system featuring a pump, motor, a bearing assembly, integrated data acquisition system and combined programmable logic controller (PLC), data acquisition and modem. The pump couples to a pump shaft that responds to a pump shaft force to pump a liquid. The motor couples to the pump shaft, responds to VFD/VSD control signaling and provides the pump shaft force to drive the pump shaft. The bearing assembly includes a bearing with the pump shaft arranged therein and couples the pump and the motor. The variable frequency/speed drive (VFD/VSD) receives PLC control signaling and provides the VFD/VSD control signaling to drive the motor. The integrated data acquisition system responds to PLC data acquisition signaling, and provides integrated data acquisition system signaling containing information about an integrated set of pumping system parameters related to the pump, the bearing assembly, the motor and the VFD/VSD in the pump system. The combined programmable logic controller (PLC), data acquisition and modem provides the PLC data acquisition signaling and receive the integrated data acquisition signaling, provides PLC data acquisition modem signaling that exports performance data to the Internet to allow remote manual monitoring of the pump system, and provides the PLC control signaling to control the VFD/VSD and operate the pumping system as a controlled, closed loop system.

Abstract:
A contoured check valve disc features a pivot portion and a check valve portion. The check valve portion is attached to the pivot portion. The check valve portion has a near-sloped portion formed nearest to the pivot portion and a contoured surface curving away from the pivot point to a first point of inflection with a first curvature. The check valve also has a far-sloped portion formed farthest from the pivot portion and a contoured surface curving away from the point of inflection towards a farthest point away from the pivot portion with a second curvature that is less curved or bent than the first curvature. The near-sloped portion and the far-sloped portion combining to form a surface having a contoured pressure/force distribution on the first side to respond to the fluid flow and move the check valve portion away from the fluid opening.

A valve is provided having a valve housing/body configured to be arranged in, or form part of, a piping having a fluid flow, and configured with a pressure tap arranged at a location along the piping to allow pressure of the fluid flow of the piping to be measured, and also having a rotatable orifice plate configured to rotate in the valve body/housing on an axis of rotation positioned at a different location along the piping than the pressure tap for rotating between a first rotatable position for providing a normal fluid flow operation and a second rotatable position substantially perpendicular to the fluid flow for providing a direct flow measurement of the fluid flow determined based on signalling sensed by the pressure tap sensor containing information about a measured pressure at the pressure tap when the orifice plate is in the second rotatable position.

A suction diffuser or arrangement is provided featuring a main suction diffuser body and a flow conditioning arrangement. The main suction diffuser body is configured with an inlet to receive an incoming fluid flow, an interior cavity to receive the incoming fluid from the inlet, and an outlet to receive the incoming fluid from the interior cavity and provide an outgoing fluid. The flow conditioning arrangement is configured in relation to the inlet and also comprises a flow conditioning portion having at least one inwardly contoured surface, configured to extend into the interior cavity, diffuse the incoming fluid passing from the inlet into the interior cavity, and provide a flow conditioning that produces a uniform flow of the outgoing fluid by directing the incoming fluid towards the outlet, based at least partly on a contoured design corresponding to the at least one inwardly contoured surface.

A condition monitoring device for monitoring machinery includes a combination of on-board sensors and a condition monitoring module. The on-board sensors include modules for non-contact temperature, magnetic flux and 3-axis vibration sensing of the machinery. The condition monitoring module provides a condition monitoring signal containing information about an operating condition of the machinery, based upon a data synthesis condition monitoring technique that synthesizes non-contact temperature, magnetic flux and 3-axis vibration sensed data received from the combination of on-board sensors, determines a current operating condition of the machinery, and compares the current operating condition and the baseline operating condition of the machinery.
