1,170,611. Polymer compositions for use in photographic materials. FOTOCHEMISCHE WERK BERLIN VEB. 4 Nov., 1966, No. 49470/66. Heading C3P. [Also in Division G2] Homogeneous compositions for preparing auxiliary layers for photographic materials comprise, in an aqueous medium, a dispersed polymer or copolymer of an acrylic or methacrylic acid ester or of acrylonitrile, polyvinyl alcohol or a low molecular weight (i.e. liquid) vinyl-ethynyl-carbinol polymer and at least one additive selected from polyglycerol esters of dicarboxylic acids, mono-esters of saturated and/or unsaturated fatty acids with glycerol and polyglycerols, polyglycerol esters of saturated and/or unsaturated fatty acids, bis-(hydroxyphenyl)-alkane derivatives and alkylphenyl polyglycerol ethers. In examples the dispersed polymer is an ethyl acrylate-acrylonitrile copolymer, an ethyl acrylate-vinyl acetate copolymer or polymethyl methacrylate. The compositions may also contain pentachlorophenol (fungicide), trimethyl octadecyl ammonium methosulphate (antistatic agent), and hydroxyethylcellulose or hydroxyethylated cellulose ether.
