A method of producing ultra-low density fiber composite (ULDC) foam materials using natural fibers with gas injection through liquid foaming is disclosed, wherein in a particular embodiment includes also cellulose filaments. The method includes a continuous overflow foaming process and a novel apparatus to produce the ULDC materials. The disclosed ULDC composite foam produced includes moisture, mold, decay and fire resistant properties which can be used for building thermal and acoustic insulations, protection packaging, air filter products, hygiene products. Abstract:
Cement composite boards comprising cellulose filaments (CF) and/or CF-containing pulp, are described. The composite boards have at least an improved modulus of rupture when compared with similar board that are free of CF. Methods for producing the CF and/or CF-containing pulp reinforced cement boards are also described. The CF cement composite board comprises: cellulose filaments (CF) and/or CF-containing pulp, and cement, wherein the CF has an aspect ratio of 200 to 5000, comprising a weight % of CF is from 1% to 20% by weight of the composite board. The composite boards herein described may have a modulus of rupture of more than 7 MPa.
Abstract:
The present provides a concrete and mortar mix and composition thereof with poor quality sand such as desert sand, hydraulic binder (cement) and filamentous cellulose, where the desert sand/spherical sand replaces conventional concrete river sands. The present disclosure also relates a filamentous cellulose, such as, cellulose nano filaments (CF), cellulose nano filaments, cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) and microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) as a concrete/mortar and sand adhesion additive with hydraulic binder (cement), and to a method of making the concrete. This method also relates to a method to prevent the sliding of individual sand grains against one another and therefor similarly contributes to the stabilization of the building materials.
Abstract:
The present description relates to a process of producing a dry mixed product comprising cellulose filament (CF) and a carrier fibre, and a dry mixed product of re-dispersible cellulose filament and a carrier fibre that permits the CF to retain its dispersibility in water and hence superior reinforcement ability in papermaking furnishes, composite materials, or other materials where CF is used. The process comprises mixing a water suspension of never-dried CF with a cellulose fibre pulp carrier followed by thickening to a suitable concentration so that it can be further processed and dried in a conventional device such as a dryer can of a pulp machine or a flash dryer.
