Abstract: A combustor/transition piece (18) for a gas turbine including a double walled structure having a plurality of cooling channels, both axial passages (46) and, in some cases, circumferential cross-flow passages (65) positioned between the structure's inner member (40) and the outer member (42) to provide cooling air thereto, are formed in the area between the inner member of the combustor and the outer member thereof. The passages preferably extend both axially and circumferentially with respect to the direction of flow through the combustor-transition piece. The axial passages extend completely from one end to the other and the circumferential passages extend around the circumference of the combustor/transition piece. The addition of a circumferential cross-flow passage connecting axial flow coolant passages in double wall turbine components can prevent combustor/transition piece part failure due to axial passage inlet blockage without affecting normal, unblocked cooling.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the stress which is thermally induced to two members by upgrading heat contact between an outer member and an internal member with two members which are tightly fitted in each other. SOLUTION: An outer member 42 is tightly fitted in an internal member 40, thereby forming a cooling passage 46. The outer member 42 is laid out so that an inlet 52 of the cooling passage 46 may be exposed to a cooling air. The cooling air flows by way of the passage 46, thereby cooling an interior wall 56 at a higher temperature. During the operation of a combustor, a high temperature combustion gas flowing by the inner side portion of the combustor holds the internal member 40 at a higher temperature than the outer member 42. Due to this, a differential expansion serves to hold both members in a firmly united state, which makes it possible to prevent the outer member from being slipped by matching a mechanical stopper means or the like on the rear end of the inner member 40.

Abstract: An oil-free linear motor compressor comprises a moving driving coil (34) arranged for reciprocation between a core (42) and a stator (12), pistons (72) coupled to the coil, and a radially extending spring suspension which constrains the pistons and coil to reciprocate along a straight line. The springs forming the suspension have radial sections (124a) and a circumferential section (124b). A ring (30) and a coil (18) are disposed between two halves of the stator (12), the ring (30) having radial pins supporting the core (42). Slots in the moving coil accommodate the radial pins enabling unobstructed movement of the coil. DC is supplied to the coil (18) and AC to the coil (34). The compressor is for use with cryogenic refrigeration equipment and can operate unattended and continuously without maintenance over extended periods of time.
