Abstract: A method for recovering tallow from food or animal processing wastewater includes adding a flocculant to the wastewater to agglomerate suspended fats, oil and grease particles in the wastewater, separating solid waste materials from the wastewater and processing the solid waste materials to recover tallow. The flocculant includes polyacrylamide or an acrylamide copolymer. A process for separating fats, oil and grease from food or animal processing wastewater is also provided.
