    Abstract: A quench station (14) including apparatus for quenching a heated glass sheet (G) conveyed by rolls (22) of a roller conveyor (20) is disclosed as including upper and lower sets of blastheads (32) having outlets (34) that are positioned closer to the conveyed glass sheet than the conveyor roll radius (R) and which are oriented and sized to provide highly efficent quenching such as during heat strengthening or tempering. These blasthead outlets (34) are preferably round and the blastheads (32) are vertically aligned with each other to provide aligned locations (36) of impingement with the oppositely facing surfaces of the glass sheet. A set of upper roll mimics (38) of the preferred embodiment is located above the conveyor rolls (22) in a vertically aligned relationship provide symmetry that results in uniform quenching of both glass sheet surfaces.

    Abstract: On décrit un poste de trempe (14) comportant un appareil qui permet de tremper une plaque de verre chauffée (G) entraînée par les rouleaux (22) d'un transporteur à rouleaux (20) et qui comprend des séries supérieures et inférieures de tuyères (32) possédant des orifices de sortie (34) positionnés par rapport à la plaque de verre transportée, à une distance inférieure au rayon (R) des rouleaux convoyeurs et orientés et calibrés de façon à assurer une trempe de grande efficacité telle que celle obtenue lors d'un traitement de renforcement par la chaleur ou d'une trempe. Les orifices des tuyères (34) sont de préférence ronds et les tuyères (32) sont alignées verticalement les unes par rapport aux autres de manière à obtenir des zones de contact alignées (36) avec les faces opposées de la plaque de verre. Selon la réalisation préférée, une série de rouleaux (38) est alignée verticalement au-dessus des rouleaux (22) du transporteur de manière à obtenir une symétrie permettant la trempe uniforme des deux surfaces de la plaque de verre.
