    Abstract: A system for melting adhesive comprises a melter, a feed system, a pump, and a controller. The melter has a melting volume, and receives and melts adhesive. The feed system supplies unmelted adhesive to the melter, while the pump pumps melted adhesive from the melter. The controller directs the pump to pump melted adhesive at a throughput rate such that the ratio of the melting volume to the throughput rate is a dwell time less than a discoloration time of the adhesive. In some embodiments, the controller also directs the feed system to replenish adhesive in the melter as a function of adhesive level in the melter.

    Abstract: A feed assembly for a melter includes a funnel, an inlet into the funnel, and a fan baffle situated atop the funnel. The funnel is oriented along a vertical axis, and has a funnel surface that narrows towards an outlet into the melter. The inlet is angled tangent to and downward towards the funnel surface to inject meltable pellets onto the funnel surface in a vortex pattern. The fan baffle is situated atop the funnel, and has a plurality of blades angled to oppose the vortex pattern so as to permit airflow but redirect the meltable pellets from the inlet towards the funnel surface.

    Abstract: A spray foam inspection tool includes a probe and a sensor. The probe is configured to measure a thickness of spray foam by piercing the spray foam and proceeding through the spray foam until contacting a substrate disposed on an opposite side of the spray foam from the probe. The sensor is configured to sense a distance that the probe extends into the spray foam and to generate thickness information based on the distance that the probe extends into the spray foam. Tool circuitry can to generate a depth signal based on the thickness information generated by the sensor and to provide the depth signal to a remote computing device.
