A shock absorber mounting system for a drawer slide system (6) comprising a fixed drawer slide member (6) fixedly attached to a furniture frame, a moveable drawer slide (8) fixedly attached to a drawer and slideably attached to the fixed slide member (6) for guiding the drawer in and out of a furniture frame, a shock absorber comprising a cylinder (12) and a piston (14) wherein the piston (14) is operable to slide in and out of the cylinder (12) and wherein air is controllably allowed to enter or escape the cylinder (12) in response to movement of the piston (14), a retainer clip (20) comprising a central aperture (22) for receiving and retaining the shock absorber and a base portion comprising means for engaging a mounting bracket (30) and a mounting bracket comprising means for retaining the retainer clip (20) and shock absorber and wherein the mounting bracket is fixedly attached to the fixed drawer slide (6). In another embodiment of the present invention, the moveable drawer slide comprises a piston engaging member for engaging the piston of the shock absorber, and the piston engaging member comprises a metallic flange and wherein the end of the piston further comprises a magnet.

A drawer closing mechanism comprising a rack (20) fixed in position with respect to a furniture frame member and comprising a plurality of teeth (22) a drive gear (32) mounted to a drawer and comprising a plurality of teeth for engaging the teeth (22) on the rack (20), and a spring (34) with two ends, one end fixedly attached to said drive gear (32) and rotatable therewith and the opposite end fixed, wherein as the drawer is pulled open, the teeth on the drive gear (32) engage the teeth (22) on the rack (20) and rotate the drive gear (32), and as the drive gear (32) rotates, the spring (34) is wound and potential energy is stored in the tension therein. The drawer slide (24) is mounted to the furniture frame member, and the rack (20) is mounted to the drawer slide. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the spring (34) comprises a flat wire spring wound circumferentially about a central point in a spiral.

A pull-out guide for guiding a drawer, having a cabinet rail for attaching to a furniture cabinet, and a drawer rail for attaching to a drawer, wherein a roller carriage is provided, the rollers of which roller carriage, during a movement of the rails relative to each other, roll on a guide face of the respective rail. An embodiment of the invention advantageously comprises the pull-out guide comprises, on the cabinet rail, an automatic retraction mechanism which, by means of a catch element, catches the drawer rail in a closure movement and moves it to a closed position relative to the cabinet rail, wherein the cabinet rail has a stop element, and the drawer rail has an abutment element, wherein, at a catch position of the cabinet rail, a distance between the stop element and the abutment element is smaller than a maximum length of movement of a coupling element of a force accumulator of the automatic retraction mechanism, wherein the distance is to be seen parallel to a direction of movement of the drawer rail.
