Abstract: Bone-treating devices made of biodegradable polymers having a high-density and a high-orientation along the major axis, which have a density of 1.260 g/cm3 or more (when measured by the sink and float method) and which possess the bending strength and the bending strength-retaining characteristic defined by the following equations: A>/=B>/=23 (kgf/mm2)(1) B/A>/=0.85(2) wherein A is the initial bending strength and B is the bending strength after 90-days immersion of the devices in a phosphate buffer at 37 DEG C. and preparing the same.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the bone treating implement consisting of a biodecomposable polymer which has the initial strength equiv. to stainless steel or ceramic implement for joining bones, maintains the strength required for the treatment during the period necessary for the treatment and is thereafter rapidly degraded in strength and absorbed in a living body and the production thereof. CONSTITUTION:This bone treating implement is a high-density molding oriented with the molecules of the biodecomposable polymer in the major axis direction, has >=1.260g/cm density measured by a float-and-sink method and maintains the bending strength and bending strength holdability expressed by equations (1) and (2). A>=B>=23 (kgf/mm )...(1). B/A>=0.85...(2), where A is the initial bending strength of this bone treating implement and B is the bending strength after immersion measured after the bone treating implement is immersed for 90 days in a phosphoric acid buffer soln. kept at 37 deg.C.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject yarn excellent in compatibility of reinforcing materials with matrices, by covering a fiber yarn for the reinforcing materials with a bundling material containing a yarn or slender tape formed of the same resin as that of an injection molded matrix, heat-treating the covered yarn, melting and embrittling the bundling material. CONSTITUTION:A fiber yarn 2 for reinforcing materials is covered with a bundling material 7 (at least one kind is formed of the same resin as an injection molded matrix resin) using a covering machine 3 and heated in a heat-treating machine 10 to melt the bundling material 7. Thereby, the bundling material 7 in a molten state sticks to the surface of the yarn 2. The bundled and finished yarn (2B) is then cut by a rotary cutter 13 to afford a chopped fiber (2C).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly perform screwing-in and to prevent the occurrence of damage by constituting a screwing cross hole having R at the heat part of a screw for bone fixation composed of intracelom decomposing and absorbing materials. SOLUTION: A screw head part 1 is composed of a vertex face 4 and a seat face 5, communicated through an under-neck round part 6 to a cylindrical part 7 of a thin part 2 and further communicated to a screw part 3 composed of a screw thread 8 and a screw valley 9. Then, the screw head part 1 has a screwing cross hole 10 for a driver or the like and further, the R, namely, curved line is formed at an apex part 11 of cross and a line 12 connecting the mutually adjacent apex parts to each other. The curvature radius of R part is not limited and for the purpose of use not requiring any strength comparatively, the constitution just providing the curved line at its one part is available as well. Then, the materials constituting the screw are composed of intracelom decomposing and absorbing polymers and use polylactic acid, polyglycolic acid or the coplymer of polylactic acid and polyglycolic acid having the molecular weight of about several ten thousands to one million, for example.
