Abstract:
An electrosurgical device (2): forceps (4) having: a firs! working arm (6), a second working arm (6), wherein the electrosurgical device (2) has a first electrosurgical configuration (100, 102) where the first working arm (6) and the second working arm (6) are in an opposed position so that the forceps (4) deliver a first therapy current that flows between the first working arm (6) and the second working arm (6); and wherein the electrosurgical device (2) has a second electrosurgical configuration (100, 102) when the first working arm (6), the second working arm (6), or both are repositionable relative to each other so that the first working arm (6) is extended with respect to the second working arm (6) or vice versa and a second therapy current is delivered from the first working arm to a remote electrode.
Abstract:
An electrosurgical instrument connectivity system providing monopolar and bipolar plugs (28, 26) each having a plurality of conductors (30, 32, 34, 36, 38} which allow for use of combination monopolar/bipolar electrosurgical devices with industry standard electrosurgical generator outlets (10, 18).
