Abstract: A radiographic magnifying device (4) suitable for use in radiation diagnostic apparatus comprises a cylindrical vacuum envelope (21), having at one end a photoelectric layer (7) and at the other a phosphor layer (8). A scintillator (5) is optically coupled by an optical device (6) such as a fiber plate, to photoelectric layer (7) and first and second focussing coils (11, 12) are arranged around the envelope (21) and means (9, 10) for generating an electric field to accelerate electrons emitted from the photoelectric layer (7) towards phosphor layer (8) are provided. A deflection device (14), preferably comprising two pairs of magnetic deflection coils, capable of deflecting electrons passing through the envelope is disposed about the envelope. The radiographic magnifying device produces a visible image as a result of the radiation impinging on scintillator (5) causing a light image to impinge on photoelectric layer (7) which emits electrons which impinging on phosphor layer (8) produce a visible image the magnification of which is determined by the currents in focussing coils (11, 12). A diagnostic apparatus can be formed using a combination of the radiographic magnifying device, a radiation source, a television camera and a display means, such as a picture monitor.

Abstract: The device gives an X-ray image on a CRT screen which can be magnified. The X-rays, after passing through the object to be displayed hit the scintillator (5) at the end of the CRT (10). The X-ray image produced by the scintillator is fed via an optical coupler (e.g. by means of fibre optic arrays) (6) to a photo-electric layer (7). The electrons emitted by the photo-electric layer strike the phosphor screen at the other end of the tube (8) to produce the final picture. Magnification of the image is achieved by two sets of focussing coils (11,12) to produce a maximum magnification of x6. Its position on the screen can be adjusted by means of a deflection coil (14).

Abstract: An X-ray image magnifying device characterized by comprising an illuminating optical system (3) for illuminating a sample (4) with an X-ray emitted from a radiation source (1), an object lens (5) composed of an oblique incident mirror consisting of a paraboloid of revolution and an ellipsoid of revolution to allow an X-ray passed through the sample (4) to be magnified and imaged at a specified position, an X-ray image detecting means (6) for detecting a formed X-ray image, and an imaging magnification regulating means for moving at least one of the detecting means (6), the sample (4) and the optical system (3) along an optical-axis direction to regulate the imaging magnification of an X-ray image. Consequently, an X-ray image magnifying device that uses an oblique incident mirror as an object lens enables changing of imaging magnification without interchanging an oblique incident mirror.

When irradiating the X-ray to the gas 20g of a reduced pressure state, this gas visibly emits the light. An image pickup device 40 picks up a visible image of the gas.
