    Abstract: A lake water mixing device wherein an elongated, generally cylindrical, open ended housing is submerged at a lake's deepest point with it's longitudinal axis in a generally vertical attitude. It is supported by legs resting on the bed or by floatation and anchor devices. A powered propeller inside the housing is arranged so that it's rotation causes a rising current through the housing. This rising current brings bottom waters to the lake's surface.

    Abstract: A rim driven rotary cutter for a tree felling head wherein the drive pinion and saw disc are in substantially the same plane, teeth on the drive pinion mating with the trailing face of the cutting formations on the saw, both being of a standard gear tooth design. The other face of the cutting formations have a cutting edge permanently or detachably mounted thereon. The circular cutting disc is mounted on a base plate and journal led for rotation on one or more annular bearings. Debris, such as chips resulting from cutting are removed by an idler having projections mating with the teeth of the cutting disc and/or an air jet suitably located to propel the chirps from between the cutting members and/or an opening in the frame allowing the chips to discharge by virtue of centrifugal forces.

    Abstract: A method of processing trees and integrated plant for processing whole trees. In the integrated plant there is a tree collecting and storage area with a boom unit for picking up trees in the storage area and moving them to an infeed area in front of the plurality of processing units. The processing units are located side-by-side and each consist of an infeed boom, means to delimb trees and means to support at least one log after the limbs have been removed. Each unit is reciprocably movable at a direction transverse to the length of the trees in the storage area and operative to pick up trees one at a time from the infeed area and move them endwise and in so doing remove the limbs from the tree Means are provided to collect the limbs and process the same and there is a receiving deck for the delimbed trees with a conveyor located below the tree support means and operative to receive the delimbed logs from all of the processing units and convey the logs to a sorting and distribution system having means associated therewith operative to buck the logs into selected lengths, debark selected logs, chip further selected logs, process the chips and convey the removed bark to the means for processing the limbs, The method involves piling prefelled whole trees in a tree collecting area in front of a tree processing plant, aligning a boom and processing unit associated therewith trees in the pile by shifting the boom and processing unit at a direction transverse to the length of the piled trees. The trees are picked up by the processing unit one after the other and fed endwise through the processing unit to remove the limbs and as the limbs are removed they are directed onto conveying means which convey them to a processing unit. The tree trunk is supported during the delimbing thereof above another conveyor means that moves the delimbed tree trunks laterally one after the other in series to a sorting and distribution system for further handling and processing of the delimbed logs.

    Abstract: An attachment for a mobile vehicle for picking up residue left behind a tree harvesting operation and cutting up the residue into smaller pieces and a mobile, selfpropelled vehicle having an attachment of the foregoing mounted thereon. The attachment includes a residue pick-up assembly comprising a plurality of spaced apart arms driven to rotate so as to pick up debris lying on the ground and feed the same to a passage extending through a housing on which the pick-up is mounted. The arms of the pick-up operate in conjunction with knives in the passageway to cut the picked up material into smaller pieces to prevent accumulation of cut-up residue in the passage there is provided in one instance a driven impeller for propelling the cut-up residue through the passage and discharge the same through an outlet therefrom, and in another instance additional knives are mounted adjacent the base or root of slots in a base plate through which the arms of the pick-up travel during rotation of the pick-up. The foregoing attachment is mounted on a mobile, self-propelled vehicle of an articulated chassis type having a debris collecting device mounted thereon. The device for collecting the cut-up debris is preferably a container pivotally mounted on the vehicle with power means to move the same so as to be self-dumping.

    Abstract: A tree skidder having a combined boom, grapple and bunk assembly mounted on the skidding vehicle and movable longitudinally relative thereto and actuated by hydraulic power means for effecting the longitudinal movement, the grapple of the assembly is also provided with abutments to engage the load, stabilizing the grapple relative to the load of trees grasped by the grapple. The bunk consists of two members between which the grapple is located during the skidding, and one bunk is pivotally mounted so as to be movable towards and away from the other bunk permitting grasping the grapple therebetween, stabilizing the same when moving from one location to another without carrying a load.
