Abstract:
An at least partially open sided outdoor animal shelter structure, the structure including (a) a floor to support animals, the floor including apertures therethrough allowing animal waste matter to pass through the floor, (b) a basement below the floor for collecting the waste matter, (c) floor supports to support the floor above the basement, (d) side supports, (e) a water impervious canopy supported by the side supports, the canopy being supported above at least part of the floor, the canopy allowing at least some light to pass therethrough, (f) at least one air flow control means to control airflow in the area below the canopy.
Abstract:
A stand-off pad (1) for livestock such as cattle and including a floor (2) supported above a basement area (3). Optionally, a roof (9) may be supported above the floor (2). The floor (2) includes drainage to allow waste material generated by the livestock to pass into the basement area (3). The waste material is collected in the basement area (5) in which it decomposes and/or dehydrates. A bedding mix including wood chips, top soil, straw/hay or bark may be placed in the basement area (5). The construction of the stand-off pad allows standard farm machinery such as tractors easy access to occasionally clean out the decomposed/decomposing/dehydrated waste material. The collected waste material may be used as a fertiliser.
Abstract:
- 15 Abstract A method of separating the liquid waste from solid waste of waste produced by a farm animal in order to capture and separate environmentally undesirable components from animal waste, the method comprising providing an animal shelter 5 structure that comprises a canopy above a floor that includes a plurality of openings to allow waste produced by animals standing on the floor to pass through the floor and into a basement below the floor, wherein the basement includes a fluid outlet to allow a draining of fluid received in the basement to pass through the opening and into a reservoir, and allowing draining of at least some of the liquid from the 10 basement and into the reservoir prior to removing the remaining waste from the basement. 201 2201 2-23 2 -/-- 2 - 109 3 105' 3 108) 105 -109 167 170 167 170

- 22 An at least partially open sided outdoor animal shelter structure, said structure including a water impervious canopy, the canopy being supported above at least part of a floor by side supports, and at least one side curtain at least partially covering at least one 5 side of the structure, wherein the curtain extends at least some way between the canopy and the floor of the structure, but can be disposed so as to leave a gap between the ground and curtain to allow air to flow below the curtain and into the structure. Abstract:
An at least partially open sided outdoor animal shelter structure, the structure including a floor to support animals, (b) a water impervious canopy, the canopy being supported above at least part of the floor by side supports, (c) at least one air flow control means comprising a closable opening through the canopy that, in its open condition, can allow airflow out of the space below the canopy, through the canopy, to thereby allow adjustment of the climate that any animal standing on the floor experiences. The canopy is curved and the closable opening is positioned at or adjacent the apex of the canopy.
Abstract:
An at least partially open sided outdoor animal shelter structure (20) to condition animals, when positioned within the structure (20). to a desired physiological state by controlling the environment in the structure, the structure including a floor (2) to support animals, side supports (23), a water impervious canopy (22) supported by the side supports (23), the canopy (22) being supported above at least part of the floor (2), the canopy (22) allowing at least some ambient light to pass therethrough and into the structure (20), and wherein there are ways in which to control the temperature and/or airflow under the canopy (22) in a passive manner such as by a movable shade cloth (30), that in one condition is located intermediate of the canopy (22) and the animals to offer shade to the animals when in the structure (20) and in at least one other condition is retracted from being positioned to offer shade to such animals.
