    Abstract: Some examples relate to controlling access to a portion of a file system object. In an example, a request may be received for accessing a portion of a file system object. A determination may be made from an Access Control List (ACL) associated with the file system object whether the request is permitted to access the portion of the file system object, wherein the ACL specifies an access right related to the portion of the file system object. If the request is permitted to access the portion of the file system object, the request may be allowed to access the portion of the file system object.

    Abstract: Dynamic updating of metadata associated with a file system is described herein. In accordance with an example, the updating includes creating a shadow file system metadata (FSM) index map in a shadow data block. The shadow data block is associated with a metadata storage of the file system and the metadata storage stores metadata files associated with the file system. The shadow FSM index map is associated with the metadata storage through an index map of the metadata storage, the index map being indicative of the metadata files in the metadata storage. The shadow FSM index map is updated to dynamically update the metadata associated with the file system, in the metadata storage.

    Abstract: The present subject matter relates to file system journaling. In one example upon occurrence of a journal flushing event, a journal working set size is compared with a dynamic journaling threshold. The journal working set size indicates size of aggregated journal entries stored in main memory of a computing system. Further, the aggregated journal entries include a new journal entry created in response to the journal flushing event. Further, the dynamic journaling threshold is based on size of unused space of the main memory. It is further determined whether aggregated journal entries stored in the main memory have to be flushed to a journal in a storage device of the computing system based at least on the comparing. The aggregated journal entries are flushed from the main memory to the journal in the storage device based on the determining.

    Abstract: Some examples described herein relate to performing a consistency check on namespace of an online file system. In an example, an inode table may be selected from an online file system. A directory inode may be selected in the inode table, and a consistency check may be performed on a dentry of a directory that maps to the selected directory inode.
