Abstract: In an example, a method includes generating a plurality of calibration objects, each in a different region of a fabrication chamber of an additive manufacturing apparatus. In some examples the method further includes obtaining a measurement of a physical property of each calibration object. The method may include determining, by processing circuitry, calibrated print agent coverage amounts for each region based on the measured physical properties of the calibration objects wherein the calibrated print agent coverage amounts are to be used in a subsequent object generation operation.

Abstract: In some examples, a system defines sub-volumes within a bounding object based on beams of a unit cell of a lattice structure for a 3D object to be built. The sub-volumes are defined based on the beams cutting through the bounding object that contains the unit cell. The system intersects the sub-volumes of the bounding object with a trimmed version of the lattice structure. The system forms a surface lattice structure having beams identified based on the intersecting, the beams of the surface lattice structure to connect to unit cells of the trimmed version of the lattice structure.

Abstract: An object of which at least a part has been 3D printed is disclosed herein. The part comprising a plurality of layers of a predetermined thickness including an outer layer and an underlying layer immediately below the outer layer. The outer layer comprises a first set of solidified portions and a first set of voids arranged in a 3D pattern such that the first set of solidified portions are raised above the underlying layer to form a first functional structure. The underlying layer comprises a second set of solidified portions and a second set of voids arranged in a 3D pattern such that the second set of solidified portions are raised above its underlying layer, to form a second functional structure, wherein the voids are encapsulated within the object; such that removal of a portion of the outer layer exposes a corresponding portion of the second functional structure.
