Abstract:
For the purpose of data compression and expansion in the playback mode reproducing data including video data and audio data recorded on a magnetic tape (2), a relative speed signal is generated from a circuit (86) on the basis of the moving speed of the magnetic tape and the rotation speed of a head drum (1), and the characteristic of the recorded data is controlled according to this relative speed signal. The tension of the magnetic tape is detected by a circuit (97), and the phase difference between the detected tape tension signal and a reel rotation speed command signal is detected by a circuit (98) so as to control the tape tension according to the detected phase difference. When a target value of the drum rotation speed is changed, a drum drive signal is changed stepwise at a predetermined time interval, and the amount of delay of a drum rotation reference signal delayed according to a signal indicative of the rotation speed of a capstan (8) is changed, so as to determine the range in which both the capstan rotation speed and the drum rotation speed can be changed. Interfaces (17, 76) are disposed between a system controller (16) and a pitch controller (77) so as to control the tone pitch of the audio signal according to the capstan rotation speed signal.
Abstract:
A magnetic head (5) suitable for use in a magnetic disk. In a magnetic head in accordance with the present invention, a read/write head (20) and an erase head (10) are placed side by side in the rotation direction of the magnetic disk. A gap (30) in the read/write head is placed at a distance of from a pair of gaps (40a, 40b) in the erase head. In addition, the read/write gap in the read/write head is deviated by a distance L in the external circumference direction with respect to a pair of erase gaps in the erase head.

Abstract:
Enhancement of the operational capability of a disk mounted with a storage for recording management information and catalog information for main information is intended. Recording/reproduction of information into or from the storage on the disk is performed before the disk starts to turn. For instance, a disk fitting aid member is arranged in a recording/reproduction apparatus, and reproduction or recording of management information and catalog information for main information recorded or to be recorded in the storage is started triggered by the operation of the fitting aid member. Or, for instance, a recording/reproduction apparatus is mounted with a disk detector, with which the mounting of the disk on a tray can be detected, and the recording/reproduction of information into or from the storage is started triggered by this detection. As information can be recorded or reproduced into or from the storage before the disk starts turning, operational capability is enhanced.
Abstract:
An information recording and control method and apparatus for a recording medium disc having information previously recorded thereon. New information is overwritten at least a portion of the previously recorded information in a recording area of the recording medium disc. Information on the new information is cataloged as control information on the recording medium disc. Residual information which is part of the previously recorded information which is not overwritten by the new information is treated as new information and information on the residual information which is treated as new information is cataloged as control information on the recording medium disc.

An information recording and control method and apparatus for a recording medium disc having information previously recorded thereon. New information (105) is overwritten or at least a portion of the previously recorded information (103,104) in a recording area of the recording medium disc. Information on the new information is cataloged as control information (101) on the recording medium disc. Residual information which is part of the previously recorded information which is not overwritten by the new information is treated as new information and information on the residual information which is treated as new information is cataloged as control information on the recording medium disc.
Abstract:
For providing a recording disc, on which information can be renewed by signals, such as electromagnetic waves, and further with which unnecessary vibration due to an eccentricity in center of gravity of the disc can be reduced when the disc is rotated at high rotation velocity, wherein there are positioned an antenna portion (12), which enables to receive information and/or electric power on the disc, and a memory chip(s) (13) for transmitting the information received to the disc and for renewing that information. Further, for reducing the eccentricity in center of gravity of the disc, a counter balance (14) and/or a label portion and/or the antenna portion and/or an other memory chip(s) and/or a battery are positioned so that they are in balance to the memory chip(s) on the disc.
Abstract:
An optical recording disk intended only for the reproduction of a main information and used by an information management system has the attachment of a memory (3) in which data for the management of the main information is written and read out easily and reliably. The memory has associated electromagnetic coupling means (10,11) for transacting the record management data with and receiving power from a recording/reproduction apparatus. The electromagnetic coupling means is built in the memory or disposed in an annular or spiral form on the disk. The transmission frequency band for data transaction and power supply is set outside the main information reproduction frequency band. The memory is disposed in or on an appropriate plastic layer of the disk depending on the usage of the disk, and located in the inner or outer section of the recording medium forming area on the disk depending on the transmission band. This low-cost optical disk can be manufactured at a high reliability and high yield.
