    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the self-luminous reflecting plate for liquid crystal watches safe and even in luminance by combining the luminance phosphor whose radiation source is Pm with the reflecting layer and cutting off the braking X-rays occuring in beta-rays with the specific case and cover. CONSTITUTION:A luminance phosphor flat plate 2 comprising covering the surfaces of fluorescent material ZnS:Cu particles with radiactive element Pm as solid oxide Pm2O3 and an irregular reflecting material 3 such as of BaSO4 which reflects the fluorescence emitted by the beta rays produced by the Pm are provided in a metal case 5 such as Al thin plate which cuts off the braking X-rays occuring in the beta-rays. A transparent high polymer thin film 4 which absorbs beta-rays and further a transparent glass plate 6 composed of lead glass of a high Pb content which cuts off the braking X-rays and lets the flat plate 2 act as a reflector are provided on the flat plate 2, whereby the self-luminous reflecting plate 1 for liquid crystal watches is formed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To use radiations of quantities as small as possibles and maximize the utilization efficiency of fluorescence by providing the luminous type phosphor having the specific structure only in the region corresponding to the time display portion. CONSTITUTION:A luminous light source 7 consisting of a phosphor layer 8 having light reflectivity, a BaSO4 reflecting layer 9 and a metal case 10 such as of Al shielding the radiations generated from radioactive substance is provided on the back of a liquid crystal display element having an upper glass plate 3 evaporated with NESA electrodes corresponding to numbers. At this time, the luminous type phosphor 11 which contains radiation sources such as solid state H and is composed of the fluorescent material of the same color as that of the layer 8 and of the same reflectance is provided only on the display portions of the hour and minute of the plate 3, and the phosphor 8 occupies in the other display portions such as the second, date, etc.
