Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent and blue colorant to be used for a toner for electrophotograph, a developer, fine particles, fine particulate paint, ink jet ink and an electret material, having a very stable inherent frictional electric effect, favourable dispersibility and high heat stability and having extremely dark color. SOLUTION: This fuchsine colorant uses an azo pigment expressed in a formula as a colorant in a toner for electrophotograph and developer, fine particles and a fine particulate paint, ink for ink jet and a electret material. In this case, azo pigment grain has a wide, specific surface area of more than 70m /g, and azo pigment grains have a length breadth ratio of lower than 2.8:1 in average and average grain size d50 smaller than 130nm.
