Abstract: Process for separating off organic constituents of exhaust gases (off-gases) which arise in the preparation of aromatic intermediates by absorption with scrubbing liquids, characterised in that the exhaust gas laden with pollutants is scrubbed at temperatures from 0 to 50@C with a scrubbing liquid of diisopropylnaphthalene or an isomeric mixture of the empirical formula C16H20, a mean molecular weight of 210-215, a boiling range of 290-300@C (DIN 51761) and a flash point above 130@C (DIN 51758).
