    Abstract: THE INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR THE POLYMERIZATION OF A-OLEFINS, FOR THE COPOLYMERIZATION OR BLOCK COPOLYMERIZATION OF THESE OLEFINS AMONG EACH OTHER, WITH OR WITHOUT ETHYLENE, IN THE PRESENCE OF A CATALYST SYSTEM CONSISTING OF A SOLID TITANIUM-CONTAINING REACTION PRODUCT OBTAINED BY THE REACTION OF TICL4 WITH AL(C2H5)2CL OR AL2(C2H5)3CL3, THE PRELIMINARY TREATMENT WITH A FURTHERP AMOUNT OF AL(C2H5)2CL AND THE SUBSEQUENT TREATMENT WITH ALKALI CHLORIDE IN THE ABSENCE OF THE MONOMER (S), AND OF A FURTHER AMOUNT OF AL(C2H5)2CL AS ACTIVATOR. THE PROCESS MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO PREPARE POLYOLEFINS HAVING A PARTICULARLY LOW ATACTIC PROPORTION, IN A HIGH SPACE-TIME YEILD.

    Abstract: 1508033 Polyolefin compositions HOECHST AG 7 April 1975 [8 April 1974] 14080/75 Headings C3P and C3M Moulding compositions comprising (1) 70 to 90 weight per cent of crystalline polypropylene, (2) 2 to 10 weight per cent of an ethylene/propylene copolymer and (3) 8 to 25 weight per cent of polyethylene wherein the melt flow index of the composition is less than that of the polypropylene component and greater by a factor of 1À3 to 7À0 than that of polypropylene prepared by means of the same catalyst as the moulding composition and having the same reduced specific viscosity, may be prepared by (a) preparing polypropylene of melt flow index 5 to 80 g./10 mins. by polymerizing propylene at 0À5 to 40 kg/cm. and 40 to 110‹ C. in the presence of a stereo specific catalyst and 0- 1 to 20% by volume, based on the propylene, of hydrogen, (b) introducing ethylene at a propylene partial pressure of less than 0À5 kg./ cm. and 40‹ to 110‹ C. and (c) preparing polyethylene in a third step at a propylene partial pressure of less than 0À001 kg./cm. and a total pressure of 0À5 to 40 kg./cm. and at 40‹ to 110‹ C. in the presence of 1 to 50% by volume of hydrogen. In examples the polymers are prepared by sequential polymerization in the presence of catalysts comprising titanium trichloride and diethyl aluminium chloride.

    Abstract: Essentially amorphous polyolefines of medium molecular weight are prepared by polymerization of alpha -olefines in the presence of a Ziegler supported catalyst. This catalyst consists of the reaction product of the chloride and/or alcoholates of the tetravalent titanium and of an alcoholate and/or a magnesium compound containing hydroxyl groups and of an aluminiumorganic compound containing chlorine, in which the proportion Al : Cl is 4:1 to 0.8:1. The polymerization is carried out at a temperature of from 100 DEG to 160 DEG C.
