Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful for producing a medicine for treatment or prophylaxis of diseases induced by ischemica symptom or for producing a medicine for treatment of disturbed respiration. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [R1 is H, a 1-8C alkyl or a Ca H2a -phenyl [(a) is 0, 1 or 2]; R2 and R3 are each 1-8C alkyl, a 3-7C cycloalkyl or Cg H2g -phenyl [(g) is 0, 1 or 2]; R4 and R5 are each H, a 1-8C alkyl, F, Cl, etc.], e.g. ethyl-2-butyl-5-methylsulfanyl-3-(2'- cyanoaminosulfonylbiphenyl-4-ylmethyl)-3Hθimidazole-4-carboxylate, etc. Furthermore, the compound of formula I is preferably obtained by reacting, e.g. a compound of formula II with an auxiliary strong base such as K2 SO3 in a dipolar aprotic solvent such as acetonitrile at 0 deg.C to a boiling point of used solvent.
