Abstract: A process for the fixation of organic dyestuffs on materials having a fibrous structure had been found, in which an organic dyestuff containing one or several groups of the formula (I) (I) wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 each represent a non-ionic, anionic or cationic substituent, with the exception of a primary or secondary amino group or the salts thereof, is applied in dissolved form onto said materials and subsequently subjected to the action of nitrous acid. The process yields fiber materials on which active substances, such as dyestuffs, brighteners, mothproofing agents, water-repellent agents, etc., are fixed fast; the novel process is especially and advantageously suitable in combination with the ice-color technique.

Abstract: Local brightening, 'white discharging' and 'colour discharging' of dyeings on textiles (already dyed but the dye not necessarily fixed) comprises treatment with a printing paste contg. apart from usual thickeners, auxiliaries and water, also an auxiliary (I) which dissolves the dye applied at elevated temp. but does not damage the material under thermosol conditions. The printed material is then heated, esp. by steaming or dry heating. Esp. the method is applied to polyester dyed with disperse dyes or to blends of natural and synthetic fibres (esp. cellulose-polyester) dyed with disperse dyes, vat dyes, their leuco esters or development dyes. (I) is pref. an ethoxylated fatty alcohol, fatty acid or alkylphenol, and the paste can also contain other discharge agents or auxiliaries.. Uniformly bright patterns are achieved on intensely coloured backgrounds. The method can be applied to a wider range of disperse dyes than known processes.

Abstract: Textiles dyed or printed with reactive dyes of the vinyl sulphone type are washed with an aq. post-treatment bath contg. as auxiliary a cpd. (I) which reacts with the SO2CH=CH2 gp., pref. with formation of a soluble prod.. Pref. (I) are (a) water-soluble (bi) sulphites or (b) NH3 or prim. or sec. amines, esp. lower aliphatic amines contg. water-solubilising gps.. The treatment deactivates (and removes) unfixed dye so that its subsequent, uncontrolled, reaction with the textiles is prevented.

Abstract: Flames are directed on wetted textile prior to its entry to a steaming chamber for dyestuff fixing. The water on the textile is raised to near its b.pt. Condensn. on the fabric during dyeing is avoided. Washing out of the fibre tips is thus reduced, dyed areas have a more distinct outline and residence times in the steamer are reduced. Pref. the flame is produced by gas jets arranged to spread the flame over the whole fabric width. The water in the fabric is raised to within 5 degrees C of b.pt. The water content in the fabric can be =50%. Steaming can be conducted at 102-140 degrees C. Dyeing can be conducted as a one or two phase fixing/dyeing process, e.g. with vat, sulphur or reactive dyes.

Abstract: The prepns. contain a suspension of >=1 such dyestuff in a conc, aq. soln. of neutral or weakly acid salts or mixts. thereof. Pref. the wt. ratio of dyestuff to salt soln. in the suspension is 1:1 - 1:2. The reactive dyes are suitably of the azo-, anthraquinone- and phthalocyanine series, and include the metallised dyes where appropriate. The prepns. are storage-stable, and are partic. suitable for the continuous dyeing and printing of textiles. They contain high concns. of dyestuffs and re-crystallisation of tfhe dyestuffs does not occur. Health hazards due to dyestuff dust are obviated in the prepn. of these liquids.

Abstract: o-Aminophenol ethers deriving from lower alkylene glycols, lower alkylene polyglycols and the corresponding mono-lower alkyl ethers which may be substituted in the phenyl nucleus by halogen or nitro, are useful as diazo components in the "all-in" printing process for preparing developing dyes on cellulose. In this process the printing paste contains the alkaline solution of the coupling component, a dispersion of the amine, sodium nitrite and a thickening composition and developing of the dye is brought about with acidic means, followed by or combined with a heat treatment.
