Abstract: Imido-percarboxylic acids of formula (I) are produced by continuously feeding a soln. of the corresp. imido-carboxylic acid (II) in sulphuric acid or methane sulphonic acid and an aq. soln. of H2O2 (III) into a static mixer, then mixing the soln. obtd. with water and isolating the pptd. prod.. In the formulae, A = 2-4C alkylene, phenylene, naphthylene or a gp. of formula -CH=CH- or (IV) (with R = COOH, SO3H or Cl, pref. COOH); X = 1-19C (pref. 2-11C) alkylene, or arylene, pref. phenylene. Pref. the solns. of (II) and (III) are fed in simultaneously by a suitable method, pref. through two concentric tubes, at a rate of 40-100 (pref. 50-80) kg/hr. for soln. (II) and 8-20 (pref. 10-16) kg/hr. for soln. (III); the reaction mixt. is passed to a coolable zone for further reaction.
