In examples ethylene was copolymerized with tetrafluoroethylene, trifluorochloroethylene, trifluorochloroethylene and tetrafluoroethylene, vinyl fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene, or trifluorochloroethylene, or vinylidene fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene or trifluorochloroethylene using as catalyst potassium permanganate or manganate, or permanganic acid dihydrate. The polymerization medium was kept alkaline either by using a buffer such as ammonium chloride, nitrate or perfluorooctanoate or using acidic emulsifiers such as C 6 -C 10 perfluoroalkyl phosphonic acids or perfluorooctanoic acid. Diethylene glycol may be added as a regulator.
