Abstract:
2-(1''-H-HALOGENOALKYL)-$2-OXAZOLINES ARE OBTAINED BY REACTING 1,1-DIFLUOROETHYLENES WITH ETHANOLAMINE. THE PRODUCTS ARE USEFUL AS MONOMERS OR COMONOMERS FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLY-N-VINYL CARBOXYLIC ACID AMIDES, CAPABLE OF RENDERING FIBROUS MATERIALS WATER- AND OILREPELLENT.
Abstract:
This invention provides a process for the manufacture of a copolymer containing at least one fluorinated mono- Alpha -olefin by copolymerizing said fluorinated mono- Alpha -olefin with ethylene at a low pressure using as catalyst acids of manganese, their salts or derivatives forming said acids of manganese under the reaction conditions.
Abstract:
THE PRESENT INVENTION IS RELATED TO A PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF POLYMERS AND COPOLYMERS OF FLUORINE-CONTAINING OLEFINS AT RELATIVELY LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE RANGE OF FROM 0 TO 50*C. AND AT ATMOSPHERIC OR SLIGHTLY ELEVATED PRESSURE. THE POLYMERIZATION IS CATALYZED BY ACIDS OR SALTS OF ACIDS OF SUBGROUP V TO VII METALS OR BY COMPOUNDS WHICH ARE CONVERTED INTO SUCH ACIDS UNDER THE REACTION CONDITIONS.
Abstract:
THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE DISPERSIONS FOR COATING SURFACES OF METAL, GLASS OR CERAMICS. THE DISPERSIONS CONTAIN SOLUBLE ADDITIVES WHICH CONSISTS OF COMPLEX COMPOUNDS OF METAL HYDROXIDES, PREFERABLY COPPER-, CADMIUM- OR ZINC HYDROXIDE, WITH 2 TO 6 MOLES OF PRIMARY AS LIGANDS, OR HYDROXOZINCATES. THESE ADDITIVES IMPROVE THE POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE COATINGS IN RESPECT OF ADHERENCE TO THE SUBSTRATE AND FREEDOM FROM CRACKS AND VOIDS.

1353535 Fluorocarbon polymers FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 22 July 1971 [25 July 1970] 34371/71 Heading C3P Ethylene is copolymerized with a fluoroolefin in an aqueous acidic medium at 0-25 atmospheres gauge pressure using as catalyst a manganese acid or manganese acid salt or a precursor therefor. In examples ethylene was copolymerized with tetrafluoroethylene, trifluorochloroethylene, trifluorochloroethylene and tetrafluoroethylene, vinyl fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene, or trifluorochloroethylene, or vinylidene fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene or trifluorochloroethylene using as catalyst potassium permanganate or manganate, or permanganic acid dihydrate. The polymerization medium was kept alkaline either by using a buffer such as ammonium chloride, nitrate or perfluorooctanoate or using acidic emulsifiers such as C 6 -C 10 perfluoroalkyl phosphonic acids or perfluorooctanoic acid. Diethylene glycol may be added as a regulator.
