Abstract: Wood-grained plastics, with the graining throughout the material, with an even graining, suitable for profiles, panels, hollow-ware or tubes are obtained by extruding together a powdered base material (pref. opt. pigmented PVC with = 20% (pref. ca 7%) of a granulated plastic (e.g. PVC or any other compatible polymer), which contains a much higher pigment content than the base and may also contain plasticiser. Powder/powder mixtures are not suitable and granule/granule mixtures require special equipment and do not give such good results.
