Abstract: Secondary etheramine acetates of the formula I in which R is alkyl or alkenyl having from 7 to 24 carbon atoms, cyclohexyl or aryl optionally substituted by alkyl, X and Y represent hydrogen or methyl, but are not both methyl at the same time, and n is an integer in the range of from 2 to 20. They are obtained by reacting secondary etheramines of the general formula IN WHICH R, X, Y and n are defined as above, with glacial acetic acid. These compounds are used as lubricating agents in the preparation and processing of synthetic fibers.

Abstract: Fabrics with polyvinyl alcohol size are desized by treating with an aqueous liquor containing 1-20 g/l alkali peroxide sulphate and 0.5-5 g/l alkaline salt of a 1-4C monocarboxylic acid e.g. sodium formate; the treatment is at 18 degrees-70 degrees C and the liquor has a pH 5-12. It is preferable to add 5-300 g/l caustic alkali, to combine desizing with pretreatment. The liquor is applied in any usual way for a period which depends upon temp. thereafter the material is washed and processed as usual. Process is suitable for fabrics contg. or wholly made of cellulose without oxidation degradation of the cellulose.

Abstract: Process for improving the sliding properties of linear polyester material in spinning operations, which comprises treating this material after the drawing with a mixture of the following components: (a) 50 to 90% by weight of a condensation product of formula I (I) in which R1 is C10-C22alkyl or alkenyl, y is a number of from 20 to 40, and x plus z have a weight of less than 20% by weight of the polypropylene oxide portion, and (b) 50 to 10% by weight of a compound of formulae II and/or III (II) and/or +TR R3O(C2H4O)yH (III) in which R2 and R3 are C8-C18alkyl or alkenyl, and x and/or y are numbers of from 5 to 20.
