Abstract: Treatment of fibre material with a liquid contg. a polymer, dispersed via a non-ionic or anionic emulsifier, with monomer units of formula (I):X-CaF2a-, and a phosphoric acid ester (RO)6- (OM)3-6 (II) and/or an oxyalkylate R1O-(CnH2nO) m-Y (III) and/or a dispersion of a plastic consisting of 60 wt. % styrene units, 20-4 wt. % of a low mol. wt. alkyl-Me-acrylate and 20-0 wt. % of units of Me-acrylic acid and/or Me-acrylamine, and a F cpd. acid source catalyst. quantities are; polymer 2-10 pts. wt., 4-40 pts. wt. of (II) and/or (III) and/or plastic and 0.5-7 pts. wt. of acid catalyst and 5-35 pts. of remaining components. Solids applied to fibres = 0.15-2.5; pref. 0.2-1.5 wt. %. In (I), X=H or F, a =4-14; in (II) R = aliphatic radical (alph. rad.) (6-20C), M=an alkali metal ion, b=1-2; in (III) R1 = an alph. rad. (6-18C), n=2-3, m=2-30, y=H or -SO3M1, M1=M. The F polymer consists of units of formula (IV) X-Ca F2a-R2-CO-CR3=CH2 where R2 = - (CH2)c-R4- or others; c=1-12, R4=-0-, -S- or -NR6; R6=H or a low molecular wt. (m. wt.) alkyl group (alk. gp.) R3=H, Cl, Me or CN. Also in formula (IV)X can =F, a=6-12, R2=-(CH2)c-O-, c=1-4 R3=H or Me. The emulsifier has formula (VI) X-Ca F2a-R7 -S2O3M2 in which M2=M, R7= a divalent radical contg. in variable sequence one or more, equal or different linking groups from -O-, R5, -NR6 or R8. R5=SO2-or -CO-, R8 = a low m.wt. alkyl-, HO.Alkyl-, or an aryl radical from the benzene range. Pref. in formula (II) R=straight chain alkyl, 10-18C M=Li or K. b=1 to 2. A pref. formula (III) has R1 = straight/branched alkyl-/alkenyl-radical 8-16C, n=2, m=5-12, Y=H or SO3M1 and M1 = Na or K. Fibrous materials from e.g. polyamide, polyester, polyacrylonitrile treated with the polymer compsn. show a good dirt resisting effect, improved anti-static properties and easier dirt removal. Carpets are more easily shampooed. A tufted polyamide carpte treated with mixt. of F polymer emulsion (see DT-OS 2 115 134) 35 pts., K salt of dilauryl orthophospheric acid ester 35 pts. Na acid pyrophosphate 25 pts., gave improved resistance to soiling improved anti-static and electrostatic properties.

Abstract: Parent patent DT 2345484 describes a bituminised roofing strip contg. a non-woven random-spun web of synthetic polyester filaments as support. According to present Patent of Addn., random web consists of synthetic polyester filaments having m.pt >=250 degrees C, esp. of polyethylene terephthalate filaments having individual titre 3-15 dtex, which are impregnated and bonded with 10-30 wt. %, w.r.t. non-soaked web, of an aq. neutral to weakly alkaline binder dispersion with 10-60 wt. % solids contg. a copolymer contg. by wt. 45-55% acrylate or methacrylate of 1-8C monohydric alcohols, 24-30% acrylonitrile, 12.5-30 % styrene, 0.5-2.5 % acrylamide, prepd. by emulsion polymerisation in presence of anion-active and/or non-ionic emulsifiers and activators, and 10-30 wt. % melamine-HCHO pre-condensate, so that stretch sail-like reinforcements are present between filaments. Reinforced fleece has surface wt. 80-300 g/m2, strength 20-100 kp/5 cm; elongation at break 25-50%; further tear strength 4-9 kp. Bituminised strip has tear-strength 30-100 kp/5 cm, elongation at break 20-60% elastic extension 1-5%, further tear strength 2-8 kp. nail tear out resistance 13-30 kp and bending strength >5000 revolutions.
