[Also in Division B2] A cation-active aliphatic or amide-amine is reacted with carbon dioxide in isopropanol at 50‹ C. containing 20 ml. of water/l. and passing carbon dioxide until precipitation of product ceases. Suitable amines are stearylamine, tallow fat amine, coconut fat amine, oleyl amine, tallow fat propylene diamine, stearyl propylene diamine, 2-heptadecenyl-imidazoline and a mixture of equal parts of arachidylamine and behenylamine, and a specified amide-amine is the mono-amide obtained from oleic acid and diethylenetriamine.
