    Abstract: Phosphite of formula P(A)(B)C where at least one of A, B or C is of formula (I). and the others may be 1-60C oxyaryl or oxy (cycloalkyl provided the total amt. of C atoms in A, B and C is u0-180, R1-4 are 0-3H atoms, phenyl, naphthyl or 5-12C cycloalkyl these gps. opt. substd. by 1-9C alkyl or 1-4Cl atoms, 1-60C alkyl opt. substd. by phenyl, 7-10C alkylphenyl or 5-12C cycloalkyl all of these gps. opt. contg. (thio)ether carboxylic acid ester, epoxy C=C or halogen gps. and/or R2 and R3 together form an (un)satd. 3-10C alkylene chain opt. substd. by alkyl or aryl gp. with the proviso that the total amt. of C atoms in R1-4, is 4-60, R5 is -CH2CH2- or -CH2CH(OH)CH2-; X is O, S or SO2 and m is 1-10. The phosphites are heat and light stabilisers for polymers and may form synergic mixts. with e.g. phenols or sulphides for polypropylene. They have improved weather and hydrolysis resistance, possess less tendency to bleed, form scale on processing machinery or fish eyes in moulding and they are odourless. Phosphites with an >1 pref. >3 have antistatic properties as well. They may be used for (chlorinated) polyolefins, polyesters, polyamides, polyethers, polyurethanes, polyacrylonitrile, polysiloxanes etc.
