    Abstract: Water-soluble azo compounds of the formula (1) +TR in which R is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms substituted by carboxy or sulfo, or is phenyl substituted by 1 or 2 sulfo or carboxy or both, and Z is vinyl, beta -thiosulfatoethyl or beta -sulfatoethyl and M is hydrogen or the equivalent of a metal, and in which the second sulfo group in the naphthalene is bonded in the m-position or p-position relative to the acylated amino group. The new azo compounds are very valuable dyestuffs having fiber-reactive properties, and give color-fast and deep dyeings and prints on fiber materials made of cellulose or synthetic or natural polyamide fibers.

    Abstract: Mass dyeing of synthetic polyamides is effected using benzoxanthene or benzothioxanthene dyes of formula (I): In the formula, X is O or S; R1 to R4 are H, halogen, OH, NO2, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy; B is 1-6C alkylene, cyclohexylene, a -NH-, -NHSO2-, -OCH2-, or -OCH2CH2- gp., trivalent N or an opt. substd. benzene or naphthalene ring; D is a di- or tri-valent benzene or naphthalene group, an ester, amide or acyl group of an aromatic carboxylic acid with 1 or 2 rings or 1-5C aliphatic carboxylic acid, an aliphatic sulphonamide group with up to 5C atoms, or aromatic sulphonamide group with 1 or 2 rings; W is a water-solubilising group attached to B or D, consisting of -SO3H, -OSO3H, -SSO3H, -OPO3H2, -PO(OH)2 or -PO(OR5)OH; R5 is lower alkyl or benzyl; m is 2 or 2; and n is 0 or 1. Excellent stability at high temps. is obtd., esp. in the reducing polyamide melt, in which they retain their fastness. Dyes give strong, brilliant yellow shades, which can be combined with blue dyes to give green shades.

    Abstract: A process for dyeing or printing fiber materials containing hydroxy and/or carbonamide groups, in which process a fiber-reactive, water-soluble dyestuff of the type defined below is applied to the fiber material and is then fixed on the fiber material at an ordinary or elevated temperature, if appropriate in the presence of agents having an alkaline reaction. This water-soluble dyestuff, which contains at least one sulfonic acid group, contains one or more groupings belonging to the group comprising the formulae (1a), (1b) and (1c) -SO2-CH=CH2 (1a) -SO2-CH2-CH2-Hal (1b) -SO2-CH2-CH2-A (1c) (in which Hal represents a halogen atom and A represents the acyloxy radical of a monobasic or polybasic acid) and also contains, linked to it, a 6-fluoro-1,3,5-triazin-2-ylamino radical, this monofluorotriazinylamino radical containing, in the 4-position, a substituent which is not an N-phenylamino or N-naphthylamino substituent having a group belonging to the above-mentioned formulae (1) attached to the optionally substituted phenyl radical or optionally substituted naphthyl radical, and is also not an amino substituent containing an azo group. Dyestuffs of this type can belong to a very wide variety of classes of dyestuffs and can be both metal-free dyestuffs and metal complex dyestuffs. With the aid of these dyestuffs and using alkaline agents, this dyeing process produces deep dyeings and prints which have good fastness properties on these fiber materials, even at low temperatures.
