Abstract: The biaxially oriented polypropylene monofilm is made from pure polypropylene and has an ash content of less than 50 ppm. The surfaces of the two sides of the polypropylene monofilm have different roughnesses Rz. The smoother of the two surfaces of the polypropylene monofilm is substantially free from fibrils and pits, so that metallisation of this surface is not accompanied by any flaws or defects in the metal coating to be applied.

A plastic melt is formed into an initial film by means of a slot die 1, cooled on the draw-off roll 3 and passed over the take-off roll 4 which has a predetermined surface roughness. The film is then biaxially stretched and heat-set.

Abstract: Se describe un procedimiento para la fabricacion de láminas de polipropileno orientadas biaxialmente, que comprenden por lo menos una capa, en el cual un polímero de propileno B es calentado en un extrusor y la masa fundida del polímero de propileno B es extruida a través de una boquilla de rendija aplanada, y la masa fundida que sale a través de la boquilla de rendija aplanada es retirada sobre uno o varios rodillos y es consolidada para formar la lámina previa, y está lámina previa estirada en los sentidos longitudinal y transversal, calentándose y fundiéndose en un segundo extrusor un polímero de propileno, o una mezcla de polímeros de propileno, A, y conduciéndose la masa fundida del polímero de propileno, o de la mezcla de polímeros de propileno, A, junto a ambos lados de la masa fundida del polímero de propileno, B, de manera tal que ambas masas fundidas sean extruidas en comun y simultáneamente a través de la boquilla de rendija aplanada y el polímero de propileno, o la mezcla de polímeros de propileno, A, forma la zona de borde de la lámina durante el proceso de fabricacion, y las zonas de borde a base del polímero de propileno, o de la mezcla de polímeros de propileno, A, son cortadas después de los estiramientos en los sentidos longitudinal y transversal de la lámina.
