Abstract: The frictional drag of aqueous liquids and suspensions in turbulent or pulsating flow is reduced by adding 1 to 1,000 ppm of a polyacryl amide or partially saponified polyacryl amide obtained in its manufacturing process in the form of an aqueous, dimensionally stable jelly which has retained its solubility in water and is capable of being cut.

Abstract: In brickwork prodn. by superimposing a thin mortar layer on highly perforated artificial bricks or blocks, opt. of light- or aerated concrete, the mortar is applied on the stone or block side bearing the perforation openings, on the passages between the perforations, and the margin. The mortar pref. contains a hydraulic or porous binder, aggregate, water, a water-soluble hydro-colloid and opt. resin binder and/or fibres. The equipment (claimed) contains a sheet-like sponge for pressing the thin mortar layer on the passages and margin of the bricks or blocks. The sponge is pref. made of foamed rubber, polyurethane, polyamide, plasticised PVC, viscose, polystyrene, or natural sponge. The brickwork is used in buildings or building units. Material loss is prevented. The mortar is easily absorbed and released by the sponge and adheres well to bricks and blocks and can reach compressive strength at least 10 N/sq.mm. after 28 days.
