Abstract: A drilling tool has been provided which has a gastight cavity therein, the entrance of which cavity is preferably positioned away from a wear surface of the tool and which cavity contains krypton 85 as a wear indicating means either for a bearing wear surface or for an abrasive drilling wear surface. The indicating means are activated when, because of wear, the cavity is punctured and krypton 85 escapes or is expelled by means of auxiliary agents. The method of marking the tools as well as the tools thus marked are within the scope of the invention. Further, the improvement in the method of drilling deep bore holes with a tool possessing these indicating means is similarly within the scope of the disclosed invention.
