    Abstract: This invention relates to antidiabetic sulfonylureas of the general formula R-SO2-NHCONH-CH2-CH2-SH (R-SO2-NHCONH-CH2CH2-S-)2 wherein R is phenyl or substituted phenyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkyl-alkyl of 6-7 carbon atoms which have a good blood sugar lowering effect. The above mercapto derivatives are made by reaction of the appropriate sulfonylurethanes, sulfonylisocyanates, or Nsulfonyl-N-acyl ureas with cystamine, which mercapto derivatives can be further oxidized to the disulfide compounds shown above.
