Date Jul. 24, 1997In a process for producing pig iron, nonferrous heavy metal alloys, ferrochromium carbure or carbon-free ferrochromium and synthetic blast furnace slags, using metal-oxide-containing waste incineration residues or slags, the charging materials of waste burning, e.g., car shredder light fractions and/or metallurgical dusts, are at least partially oxidized and subsequently are reduced while separating nonferrous metals or alloys, whereupon the oxidic slag phase depleted from metals or alloys is mixed with liquid steelworks slag optionally upon further addition of metallurgical dusts, whereupon crude steel is drawn off while lowering the viscosity of the steelworks slag and the remaining slag portion is subjected to further reduction while recovering pig iron and optionally Fe chromium alloys, whereupon the resulting synthetic blast furnace slag is discharged.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method of producing pig iron, non-ferrous metal alloys, ferrochromium carbides or carbon-free ferrochromium and synthetic blast furnace slag using residues of incinerated waste or slag containing metal oxides. According to the invention the materials used in waste-incineration, such as for example light fractions obtained from vehicle shredders and blast furnace dusts, are (1) oxidised at least partially and then reduced, with the deposition of non-ferrous metals or alloys. The oxidic slag phase, depleted of metals or alloys, is then (3) mixed with liquid steelworks slag, optionally with the further addition of blast furnace dusts, whereupon, as the viscosity of the steelworks slag is reduced, raw steel is extracted, and (4) the remaining slag portion is subjected to further reduction, producing pig iron and possibly ferrochromium alloys. The resultant synthetic blast furnace slag is then discharged.

Abstract: El proceso para producir lingotes de hierro, aleaciones de metal pesado no ferroso, ferrocromo carburado o ferrocromo libre de carbono y escorias de alto horno sintética, utilizando excorias o residuos de la incineracion de desechos que contienen oxido de metal, los materiales cargados de la quema de desechos, por ejemplo, fracciones ligeras de trituradores de carros y/o polvos metalurgicos, son al menos, parcialmente oxidados y subsecuentemente se reducen mientras se separan los metales no ferrosos o aleaciones, entonces la fase de escoria oxidada agotada de los metales o aleaciones, opcionalmente se mezcla con la escoria de trabajos de acero líquido además de la adicion de polvos metalurgicos, después de lo cual el acero crudo se funde mientras se reduce la viscosidad de la escoria de trabajos de acero y la porcion restante de escoria se somete a una reduccion adicional, mientras se recupera el lingote de hierro y opcionalmente las aleaciones de cromo, luego de la descarga de escoria de alto horno sintético.
