Abstract: The defect detection device has a generator for supplying an electromagnetic coil (4) with current pulses, an oscillation detector and a signal analyzer (2) for analysis of the reflection signals detected by the oscillation sensor (5). The signal analyzer provides a short-term measurement evaluation using a gating module (21), a memory module (22), a calculation module (23), a comparison module (24) and a defect evaluation module (25), the electromagnetic coil and the oscillation sensor displaced over a defined path along the surface (14) of the concrete component (6), while maintaining a defined distance from this surface. An independent claim for a method for detecting defects in the reinforcement of concrete components is also included.
