    Abstract: An electromagnetic energy interference seal arrangement for use in light beam touch panel systems. The electromagnetic energy interference seal includes the use of waveguides (40) associated with the light beam sources (34) and detectors (36) to improve light beam touch panel performance. The waveguide size is selected so that it operates as a waveguide above cutoff frequency for the light beams (32) but operates as a waveguide below cutoff frequency for blocking electromagnetic energy interference. The waveguides (40) improve the light beam signal to noise ration since they shade the detectors (36) from reflections and from extraneous light such as from overhead room lighting. Bonding of part of the electromagnetic energy interference seal is effected by an electrically conductive compound which enables nondestructive disassembly when required. Environmental sealing strips (42, 43) are provided to cover the waveguide apertures to protect against dust, liquids and other environmental contaminants.

    Abstract: Un dispositif de protection contre les signaux parasites dus à l'énergie électromagnétique, destiné aux systèmes à panneaux sensibles. Le dispositif anti-parasites fait appel à l'utilisation de guides d'ondes (40) associés aux sources lumineuses (34) et de détecteurs (36) pour améliorer les performances du panneau sensible à faisceaux de lumière. Les dimensions du guide d'ondes sont choisies de manière à ce que celui-ci serve de guide d'ondes au-dessus de la fréquence de coupure pour les faisceaux lumineux (32) et qu'il serve à bloquer les signaux parasites dus à l'énergie électromagnétique au-dessous de la fréquence de coupure. Les guides d'ondes (40) améliorent le rapport signal/bruit du faisceau lumineux en raison du fait qu'ils abritent les détecteurs (36) de reflets et de lumière non désirée, par exemple de la lumière de l'éclairage provenant du haut du local. Une partie du dispositif anti-parasites est collée à l'aide d'un composé conducteur d'électricité, ce qui permet le cas échéant son démontage non-destructif. Des bandes étanches à l'environnement (42, 43) sont prévues pour couvrir les orifices du guide d'ondes afin de les protéger contre les poussières, les liquides et d'autres polluants de l'environnement.
