    Abstract: AN9-90-012 SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DYNAMIC CONTROL OF HORIZONTAL SCROLLING A method and system for dynamically controlling the horizontal scrolling of data contained in a stored table of arbitrary size in a windowing environment. The list of data to be scrolled through is stored in memory with certain columns designated as sticky. Responsive to input from the user, a process is invoked to either scroll left or right through data contained in the stored list. A "must display" column is determined based on the current display in the window and the direction of scrolling. The sticky columns that can fit with the "must display" column are determined and placed on the display. Sticky columns that cannot be placed on the display with the "must display" column due to window size limitations are temporarily suppressed. Additional non-sticky columns are placed on the display on a space-available basis including the placement of a partial column that fills the display.

    Abstract: AN9-89-003 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING A COMPLEX HIERARCHY OF DATA OBJECTS The method and apparatus of the present invention may be utilized to process a complex hierarchy of interrelated data objects so that a system user may rapidly and efficiently traverse the hierarchy from a first selected data object within the hierarchy to a second selected data object without the necessity of manually returning to a known point or "root" within the hierarchy. Each time the system user traverses the hierarchy from a known point to a selected data object, the data objects encountered during the traverse are stored, along with a set of actions which were necessary to traverse the hierarchy to that point. Upon an indication by the user that a second selected data object is required, the system will automatically display the existing path from the known point within the hierarchy to the selected data object in current utilization and the user is then permitted to alter the data objects and actions contained therein to reflect a "path" to a second data object. Thereafter, the system will automatically traverse the complex hierarchy along this newly created path to arrive at the second selected data object. In one embodiment of the present invention, a selected path to a known data object may be saved or "bookmarked" to permit the user to selectively return to that particular data object at any time in the future.

    Abstract: There are disclosed systems and methods for measuring the value of elements in an information repository. In an embodiment, various methods of measuring the value of elements in an information repository are provided. Knowing which elements i n the repository are most used may define one measure of their value. This may ser ve a number of business purposes including, for example, establishing how to price those assets if they are sold; identifying which assets are candidates for further investment; assessing the performance of the information developers who created them; deciding which assets should be retired from the repository; and measuring the level of asset reuse in an organization.
