Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arbitration mechanism for performing arbitration between redundant controllers electrically connected together and having a plurality of outputs to be provided as input to at least one device under control. SOLUTION: The arbitration mechanism includes hardware output interlock of the redundant controllers which surely uses a logic for automatically determining what controller of the redundant controllers is an active controller and output controlled only by the active controller as input to at least one device. The arbitration mechanism also includes a logic for monitoring the active controller for a failure and automatically switching active control to another controller of the redundant controllers transmissive to at least one device based on detection of the failure. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recovery process of a built-in processor for monitoring other processes in a system. SOLUTION: In this system, each process can designate a recovery policy that preferably includes recovery count, recovery time and a recovery action. When the process unexpectedly ends, the recovery process determines whether the process has a corresponding recovery policy, checks the recovery count and recovery time designated by the recovery policy to thereby determine whether the process can be recovered when the process has the corresponding recovery policy, executes a recovery action designated by the corresponding recovery policy when the process can be recovered, and resets the system when the process can not be recovered. Thus, the system can recover a single process without giving an influence to other active processes on the system. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
A system for interconnecting an intelligent controller to a plurality of terminal devices includes a software module, a microprocessor and a device adapter having a plurality of output ports. The system operates under the control of said software module. When the system is powered up, a status for the output ports is assumed and tested under control of a configuration register. If the test is successful, the terminal port remains in that state; if unsuccessful, the state of the terminal port is reversed. the system permits an exchange of operating modes in the terminal devices associated with one port without adversely affecting operation of the remaining ports in the system.
