Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a portable PC excellent in operability and durability while reducing its weight and thickness by making it possible to lift a pointing device of the PC. CONSTITUTION: This portable PC and keyboard system has a mechanism, for lifting the pointing device 30. A lifting mechanism can be constituted so as to lift the device 30 based upon the position of a cover for the computer. A base part 104 fixes the device 30. The base part 104 is connected to the pallet part 26 of the keyboard by hinge 106. The base part 104 is pushed up by the movement of an arm 110 interlocking with the open/close of the cover. Thereby the device 30 fixed on the base part 104 is pushed up to a position higher than an adjacent key 28.
