Abstract: Disclosed herein is a new magneto-optic transducer which orients the transfer film non-parallel to the record storage medium with only an edge of the transfer film adjacent the record storage medium. The magneto-optic transducer also provides a reflecting surface adjacent the surface of the record storage medium on either side of the transfer film so that the magneto-optic Kerr or Faraday Effect may be utilized with the transducer. Furthermore, the reflecting surface permits a focused light beam to be directed near the edge of the transfer film adjacent the storage medium.

Abstract: LIGHT PIPE FOR ACCURATE ERASURE OF PHOTOCONDUCTOR CHARGE Erase apparatus for use in an electrophotographic copier machine where an array of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are placed adjacent one end of a light channel with the other end adjacent a moving photoreceptive surface. The channel allows light rays to pass freely from LED to LED but contains the rays in a direction parallel to the direction of photoreceptor movement. The channel may be comprised of sides with reflective surfaces normal to the photoreceptive surface or may be a solid plastic sheet through which the rays pass. In the latter embodiment, rays are internally reflected from the surfaces of the plastic sheet. BO978013

Abstract: 1287864 Optical playback of magnetic records INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 11 May 1971 [25 June 1970] 14186/71 Heading G5R A magneto-optical transducer using the Kerr effect and/or the Faraday effect comprises an optical prism having a magnetic film 34, Fig. 3, or 62, Fig. 11, on one surface and mounted so that a moving magnetic record, e.g. a tape 14, passes a second surface of the prism and an edge of the magnetic film. The magnetic film may be sandwiched between two such prisms of which the second surfaces may be coated with a reflecting material 69, Fig. 11, and may be curved, Fig. 8 (not shown), and/or grooved, Fig. 10 (not shown). Alternate layer of ferromagnetic and dielectric material may form the magnetic film (56), Fig. 10 (not shown). A bias field along the magnetic film may be produced by a pair of coils (54) mounted on either side of the transducer, Fig. 9 (not shown).
