Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, system, and device for recovering a system resource so that the minimum system constitution can be provided by a data processing system. SOLUTION: In an embodiment, at the time of initially loading a program, it is confirmed that failure is generated in a first resource by a firmware component in a data processing system. The assignment of the first resource is released at that time. Responding to the confirmation of a fact that the minimum system constitution in which the data processing system is operating is made short due to the release of the assignment of the resource, one of a plurality of resource whose assignment is released in which any failure whose significance is the lowest is generated is confirmed by a firmware component. Then, one of a plurality of the resources whose assignment is released in which any failure whose significance is the lowest is generated is reassigned so as to be used for the data processing system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and accurately diagnose and repair the error of an environment and a power supply by writing fault data including a sensor type, an identification code and an error type to an environment alarm (EPOW) register. SOLUTION: The environment and power supply information of a system is provided through a fan speed sensor 14 and a temperature sensor and a voltage sensor connected to analog/digital converters 32 and 34. All the data provided by the sensors are utilized in a service processor 10 by an I2C bus 26. Physical, parameters are measured by the respective sensors and signals responding to measured values are transmitted from the sensors to the system. By comparing the signals with a prescribed threshold value, whether or not an environment fault state is present is judged. Then, when the error type, the identification code and the sensor type are decided, the fault data including the information are written to the EPOW register 24 in the system.
