Abstract: The charging station of an electrophotographic copier comprises an overcharging corona device (21) followed by a backcharging corona device (22) which is powered to reduce the charge developed by the overcharging corona device. As it passes through the charging station, unwanted residual toner on the imaging element (20) is charged to a polarity such that it is removed from the element during subsequent passage of the element through a developing station (26).

Abstract: A border discharge device for an electrophotographic copier comprises a row of light emitting diodes (42 to 74) positioned adjacent light channel sections (90 to 93). The channels (90, 91 and 93) provide edge erase and channel (92), together with the others, provide inter-image erase, the diodes being selectively energised to effect these functions. The channels comprise blocks of transparent material having reflective upper and lower surfaces to allow propogation of light rays from each diode to the photoconductive imaging element at a plurality of angles of incidence. Thus each channel provides a substantially uniformly illuminated strip area.

Abstract: A magnetic head design is for use in tape recorders. It is especially suitable for very small heads, in which the use of any sort of adhesive during production is avoided. Between one of the inner walls of the housing (12) or a spacing component and a part directly adjacent (14), a wedged shaped aperture (16) is provided into which a flat wedge (22) can be inserted. This wedge is used to hold the components in their correct relative positions. The bridge (14) and the wedge may be of stainless steel or titanium.
