Abstract: Retention apparatus for retaining an object in a predetermined position This retention apparatus seats and holds an object in place with a constantly applied force. In the preferred embodiments the device has two resilient bow-shaped elongated members that outwardly extend on opposite sides of a handle. Actuating the handle in a linear direction causes the object to move in the same direction to the desired location, carrying the resilient members as it does so. At the desired location, the movement of the object is stopped, but further travel of the handle in the same direction is accomplished by deflection of the resilient bow-shaped members which in turn provides the constantly applied biasing force to the object to seat and hold it in place. An embodiment is described for a retention apparatus to seat and hold a double sided printed circuit card in a pair of zero insertion force type edge connectors. In another embodiment, the device seats and holds two mating connector members, such as a receptacle and header which have mating terminals and pins.

Abstract: QUICK DISCONNECT CARD-ON-BOARD ELECTRONIC PACKAGE ASSEMBLY A card-on-board package assembly which comprises a printed circuit board, a board stiffener secured to the board, a card guide assembly fastened to the stiffener, and a plurality of printed circuit cards mounted in the guide assembly to make electrical contact with the board. The cards latch into position in the guide assembly and are connected into the board with a scissors-type movement by captive fastening means which fasten the cards to the stiffener. Individual cards may be easily replaced. The board, board stiffener, card guide, and card assembly is fastened to a gate or frame by captive fastening means and may be quickly and easily removed as a unit and replaced with another one.
