Abstract: Ein Verfahren zum Einrichten einer transparenten Umschaltung von synchronen Spiegelungs-Datenträgern für einen ersten Datenträger und einen zweiten Datenträger, die verbunden sind, über ein Speicherbereichsnetzwerk in einem Host-Computer, wobei der erste Datenträger in dem Host-Computer abgebildet wird. Das Verfahren enthält ein Auslösen einer Synchronisierung von Zustandsdaten zwischen dem ersten Datenträger und dem zweiten Datenträger und ein Einstellen des ersten Datenträgers in einen aktiven Zustand. Der zweite Datenträger wird in einen inaktiven Zustand eingestellt, und eine Kennung, die dem aktiven ersten Datenträger zugehörig ist, wird in einen Speicher kopiert, der mit dem inaktiven zweiten Datenträger verbunden ist. Die kopierte Kennung wird durch den Host-Computer aus dem Speicher abgerufen, und der inaktive zweite Datenträger wird anschließend in dem Host-Computer abgebildet.

The method includes initiating synchronization of status data between the first volume and the second volume, and setting the first volume to an active state. The second volume is set to an inactive state, and an identifier associated with the active first volume is copied to a memory coupled to the inactive second volume. The copied identifier is retrieved from the memory by the host computer, and the inactive second volume is then mapped to the host computer.

Abstract: Configuring data migration from a first volume to a second volume, which volumes are coupled via a storage area network (SAN) to a host computer, with the first volume mapped to the host computer. A volume identifier associated with the first volume is copied (100) to a memory coupled to the second volume, and the copied volume identifier is retrieved from the memory by the host computer. A state of the second volume is set to inactive (102), and the inactive second volume is mapped to the host computer (104). A state of the first volume is set to inactive (108), and the status data from the inactive first volume is synchronised to the inactive second volume. After the copying, data migration is started from the inactive first volume to the inactive second volume (112), and after the starting, the state of the second volume is set to active (114).
