Abstract: This invention pertains to the technical field of vibratory pneumatodynamic bearings. The technical problem is to reduce bearing weight while not increasing pitch and yaw. This is accomplished by employing a transducer (41) including an elongated tube (42) with a shorter tube (44) which are bonded together, with one inside the other. This invention may be used in actuators for magnetic recorders. In one case elongated inner tube (42) is joined to the inner surface of the shorter outer tube (44). Transducer (41) carries a load at points of low vibration on inner tube (42). The outer tube (44) is piezoelectrically excited. The tubes (40, 42) are cylindrical and inner glass tube (42) rides on cylindrical rod (40). The mounting points are at saddle points (S, Fig. 7) on inner tube (42). The short outer tube (40) reduces transducer weight. Alternatively outer tube (90)can be longer than inner tube (91). In that case, outer tube supports tube (93), which rides on it.
