Abstract: Methods and systems for generating database statistics. Table statistics in a metadata catalog of a source database system are observed, statistics generation costs utilizing a target database system are estimated, and source statistics generation costs utilizing a source database system are estimated. The statistics generation costs are compared and statistics generation queries by the target database system are triggered in response to the statistics generation costs utilizing the target database system having a predefined relationship with the source statistics generation costs utilizing the source database system. The statistics generation queries are performed by the target database system in response to the triggering by the source database system. The generated statistics are sent from the target database system to the source database system, the table statistics in a metadata catalog are updated based on the generated statistics, and the updated table statistics are used to optimize a query plan.

Abstract: A computer implemented method comprises receiving at least one log record 130 describing a type of operation performed in a source database system 101. Based on the type of operation, an update strategy is selected from a set of pre-defined update strategies. The update strategy specifies a sequence of replication operations to be performed in order to apply changes described in the at least one log record to a target database system 103. The change described in the log record may then be applied using the chosen update strategy in order to synchronize data across multiple databases. If the update of the target database fails, an alternative update strategy may be used instead. The method may be useful in a system in which both older and newer versions of the incremental update software are available, and a choice must be made about which to use.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a computer implemented method of using a logical view of a base database table of a database system for mirroring or replication of changes in the logical view. The method comprises: receiving a change request for the logical view; generating a log record for the change request in a transaction log; performing a replication operation to replicate the change request for the logical view in a target database table by inputting the transaction log into a replication tool configured for modifying the target database table using the transaction log. The replication tool may be configured for performing a replication operation that replicates changes in the logical view to a different database table using the transaction log. the target database table may be a different database table or the base database table. Generating a log record for the change request in a transaction log may comprise logging the change to the logical view as a change to the base database table.

Abstract: A method for vehicle traffic behavior monitoring and feedback that includes collecting vehicle sensor data from a set of vehicles operating in a traffic environment, where each vehicle transmits vehicle sensor data via a communications network to a processor, and forming a consensus block of aggregate data, where the aggregate data is made of individual vehicle sensor data from each vehicle in the set of vehicles, and where the processor discards duplicate data and repetitive data from the consensus block. The method also includes detecting, in the consensus block, a vehicle motion pattern, where the vehicle motion pattern deviates from a threshold by greater than a tolerance, mapping the vehicle motion pattern to a particular vehicle in the set of vehicles, and generating a feedback response based on the mapping.
